Job Summary:
As an Equipment Engineer, you'll be pivotal in maintaining the seamless functionality, upkeep, and enhancement of packaging equipment at our various sites. Your primary duties will encompass overseeing the installation, fine-tuning, and calibration of a range of cutting-edge machinery including Multihead Weighers, Fillers, and Sealing Machines from top brands such as Ishida, Yamato, Multivac, and ProSeal. In addition to this, you'll take charge of training and establishing robust safety protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for our maintenance teams. Your role will entail hands-on troubleshooting and repair of these sophisticated systems, coupled with close collaboration with cross-functional teams to pinpoint areas for refinement and spearhead the implementation of innovative solutions aimed at augmenting equipment performance and reliability.

Equipment Maintenance and Repair:
  • Spearhead the design, procurement, and negotiation of equipment for capital projects, ensuring optimal functionality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with on-site maintenance teams to execute installation, training, diagnosis, and troubleshooting of equipment, conducting thorough root cause analyses to swiftly rectify malfunctions and maintain regular maintenance schedules.
  • Liaise with external vendors or contractors for specialized repairs or maintenance tasks when necessary, ensuring seamless coordination and timely resolution. 
Equipment Installation and Calibration:
  • Lead the oversight of equipment installation, setup, and calibration processes, meticulously verifying proper functionality and alignment with operational standards.
  • Develop and uphold comprehensive installation procedures and documentation, streamlining the onboarding process for new equipment and ensuring adherence to quality standards.
Performance Monitoring and Optimization:
  • Monitor key performance metrics of equipment and conduct systematic evaluations to pinpoint areas for optimization and efficiency enhancements.
  • Collaborate closely with process engineering teams to implement strategic modifications or upgrades to equipment systems, bolstering performance and reliability.
  • Harness advanced data analysis techniques to detect trends, patterns, and potential issues, proactively addressing them to forestall operational disruptions. 
Compliance and Documentation:
  • Ensure unwavering compliance with regulatory mandates, industry benchmarks, and company directives pertaining to equipment operation, maintenance, and safety.
  • Establish and uphold Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to empower Facilities Maintenance in maintaining accurate records of equipment maintenance activities, repairs, and calibration procedures, meticulously adhering to documentation protocols. 
Training and Knowledge Transfer:
  • Deliver comprehensive training and mentorship to maintenance technicians and operational personnel on equipment operation, maintenance best practices, and safety protocols.
  • Cultivate a culture of continual learning and knowledge dissemination to foster technical proficiency and expertise within the team, driving sustained performance excellence.
  • Any other duties as assigned. 
Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs, reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) principles, and predictive maintenance methodologies, underlining a proactive approach to equipment upkeep and optimization.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling seamless collaboration across diverse teams and the capacity to convey technical information clearly and concisely to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Bilingual ability in Spanish is a plus
Education and Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience working with Multihead Weighers, Fillers, and Sealing Machines, including prominent brands such as Ishida, Yamato, Multivac, and ProSeal, preferably within a commercial food production setting, with specific exposure to cut lettuce production highly valued.
  • Demonstrated track record in equipment maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting in manufacturing or industrial environments, showcasing proficiency in swiftly diagnosing and rectifying issues to minimize downtime.
  • Robust technical expertise encompassing mechanical, electrical, and/or electronic systems, coupled with adeptness in interpreting schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals to facilitate effective problem-solving.
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
