Primary Location:       Augusta, GA, Savannah, GA and/or Charleston, SC

Southeast Utilities of Georgia ("SEU") offers full-service construction, repair and emergency services related to Cable TV, Telephone, Fiber-Optic communications, and Power construction including underground trenching, plowing, missile, and directional boring and aerial construction. Job Summary:

The Quality Control Technician will have previous experience with CATV, aerial & underground construction, including performing quality inspections of the placement of aerial, buried and underground fiber optic and coaxial cable, conduit, grounding and bonding inspections, hand hole, pedestal and aerial terminal placement, documentation, and ensuring the adherence to standards and established procedures.

Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
  • Field exp with both Aerial and UG work…Min 5yrs
  • Able to travel through the week, home on weekends most of the time
    • The work area will be out of our AUG, SAV and CHA offices
  • Computer skills, particularly strong in Excel and Outlook
  • Smartphone skills, maps, apps
  • Understands cable prints
  • Organized, comfortable navigating in unfamiliar places
  • Physically able to walk distances
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
  • Motivated self-starter with a passion and drive to start and complete projects
  • Experience and understanding of telecommunications outside plant construction techniques
  • Knowledge of buried, aerial and UG cable facilities
  • Knowledge of Cable Splicing, Cable Maintenance, OSP Fiber/Coaxial
  • Design or Construction experience with OSP including Fiber to the Premise (FTTP) deployments. Experience should include aerial and underground cable systems, splicing, testing, termination, and cable placement.
  • Ability to Develop and provide reports on conditions found, take photos, document discrepancies and recommended fix actions where applicable
  • Ability to verify work was completed per applicable guidelines and standards
  • Knowledge of National Electric Safety Code (NESC) Standards
  • Knowledge of utility locating methods and experience using cable locating equipment
  • Access to personal vehicle, along with valid driver's license and insurance.
  • Ability to fill out company forms, dailies, reports, etc.
