Role Overview
The Strategic Finance Associate is a highly impactful position that will play a critical role in many of the company’s key decisions. You will work cross-functionally with other organizational leaders to conduct and present analysis that informs the company’s long-term plan and strategic direction.

This role reports to Nexus Circular’s Strategic Finance Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and own the company’s economic model, ensuring it remains up to date
  • Represent the Strategic Finance function as a resource on various internal strategies and initiatives
  • Work in conjunction with the Strategic Finance Manager to conduct scenario analysis for pricing, capital expenditure, and operating assumptions to optimize value creation
  • Work cross-functionally with organizational leaders to execute strategic plans
  • Support investor communications by drafting monthly Board reports
  • Create PowerPoint presentations, data visualization, and financial models as required
  • Work with CEO, CFO and Strategic Finance Manager on capital raising efforts
  • Interact with investment banks and capital sources as required
Minimum Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in investment banking, management consulting, or corporate finance / strategy
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or engineering
  • Experience in capital-intensive industries (oil and gas, recycling, or waste management preferred)
  • Extensive experience with Excel-based advanced financial modeling and confidence with creating bespoke models
Desired Skills:
  • Experience with project financing highly preferred
  • Excellent analytical skills and the capacity to identify problems and opportunities and to provide well-informed recommendations for solutions
  • Ability to structure logical, analytical approaches and apply a range of techniques to solve business problems in an efficient, timely manner
  • Exceptional executive presence and communication skills with a track record of building solid relationships cross-functionally
  • Experience driving teams to consensus, especially while managing projects with ambiguity and diverse stakeholders
  • Proven project management skills and ability to successfully deliver projects from start to finish
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills with a proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet changing deadlines and priorities across multiple projects
  • Curiosity, strong critical thinking skills, and an insatiable appetite for learning
  • Internally motivated to learn about Nexus and the industry outside of directly assigned projects and tasks
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, be hands-on, and work both independently and as a team player
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

Jodie brings over 30 years of manufacturing leadership experience, having built and led 5 companies as CEO/President and 3 of those companies with an ESG focus.

Most recently, Jodie served as the CEO of GreenMantra Technologies, a privately-held early- stage advanced recycler of waste plastics to specialty waxes. Previously, she was President of Pinova, a PE-backed manufacturer of specialty chemicals from renewable resources.

Currently, she serves on the boards of NanoXplore (TSX) and Bartek Ingredients (PE backed) and is active with The National Association of Corporate Directors and The Women Corporate Directors.

Jodie earned degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Delaware and holds an MBA in Finance from West Chester University of Pennsylvania.
