Reports to:     Vice President, Communications

SUMMARY:
Supports the PR department with the company’s key initiatives by writing press materials, gathering press coverage clips, managing photo and video assets for press, collaborating with cross departments, and managing tasks relating to the company’s plans for celebration events (to include a 20th anniversary celebration in October 2024). Brands include UPtv, UP Faith & Family, aspireTV, aspireTV+, aspireTV Life, Cine Romántico, GaitherTV+ and representation of Ovation TV, Journy and Mystery Alley. This role will also provide administrative support to the content strategy team to include meeting scheduling and coordination, documentation of meeting notes and action items, and project management activities. Looking for someone who is passionate about the entertainment industry and pop culture, and who is aware of the competitive landscape and is able to share any pertinent insights. This is a unique opportunity to gain experience in Public Relations while getting insight into the business side of the entertainment industry by supporting the Content Strategy team with administrative duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Compile press clippings/coverage weekly.
  • Draft press releases/summaries/biomaterials as needed.
  • Assist team with campaigns, including developing strategy, pitches, and executing press outreach.
  • Manage updates and materials on the company’s press site.
  • Work closely with marketing to gather video and photo assets to be shared with press.
  • Work closely with programming to create movie and series descriptions as needed.
  • Compile weekly programming alerts for press.
  • Help coordinate talent travel when needed.
  • Support team with logistics and planning aspects for any PR events including the company’s 20th anniversary celebration.
  • Create graphics to be used on LinkedIn announcing new hires.
  • Research PR contacts/build press lists.
  • Compile information for award submissions.
  • Schedule all meetings, including all conferences and distribute recap notes for the content strategy team.
  • Track and maintain content submissions through the evaluation and review process.
  • Maintain Content Acquisition Tracking document. 
  • Stay current on breaking news and events that may impact programming decisions and alert department heads of issues that may impact the air in a timely manner.
  • Track trends and content across the entertainment industry, including traditional TV, theatrical movie releases, Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime, Hulu and any new and emerging streaming services. 
  • Maintain and collaborate to update existing databases, reports, and documents that are distributed to leadership and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain the runs remaining document tracking usage for every series for UP, Aspire and Ovation.
  • Attend and cover cross-departmental meetings for all platforms and provide updates to the department as needed.
  • Screen series and movies to be scheduled.
  • Other job-related duties or projects as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior internship experience in the entertainment industry, particularly in public relations/communications is preferred.

SKILLS:
  • Strong background in AP style writing.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Project Management: Organized and detail-oriented with ability to manage, prioritize, balance multiple projects, and adhere closely to deadlines.
  • Time Management: Ability to work effectively in a deadline driven environment.

COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and other relevant internet software such as Airtable. Knowledge of Canva and Adobe Creative Suite applications such as Photoshop and InDesign preferred. Experience with WideOrbit/Media Genix/Simms scheduling system is a plus.
