Your New Job

Job Summary:
The Director, Project Controls is responsible for creating and maintaining best practices for program-level cost engineering, including forecasts, project financials, and compliance. This role serves as a functional expert and process owner of project controls, developing best practices and deploying them into projects. The Director provides timely and reliable performance measurements for all areas of large project management.

Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
  • Establish financial and operating benchmarks for large programs, including budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines.
  • Assist in the development of budget and cost reports, earned value analyses, and resource planning and allocation.
  • Manage the development of the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and detailed program schedule using critical path methodology.
  • Support the creation of project schedules to ensure the leveling of resources across multiple projects to maintain required production volume; audit and support schedule needs throughout the project.
  • Identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Coordinate with Engineering Management, Operations Management, Accounting Department, Program Staff, and Subcontractors as needed in executing responsibilities.
  • Support exception reporting for all work outside of expected profitability thresholds.
  • Provide lessons learned and insights into the estimating process.
  • Coordinate the project controls tools.
  • Collaborate to establish financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards for large programs.
  • Assist in the development of training programs for project team members and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Serve as a resource to solve complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, construction management, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in project controls, cost engineering, or a similar role, including personnel management experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of detailed financial data analysis.
  • Familiarity with project cost accounting, financial controls, and critical path scheduling.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex data with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Advanced ability to manage time effectively and efficiently, with strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
Technical:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with expert-level MS Excel skills.
  • Experience with project management software and tools (e.g., Primavera, MS Project, SAP, etc.).
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
  • Professional certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • 5+ years of experience managing complex, high-volume construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement, schedules, contracts, and telecom project   management.
  • Experience in developing and implementing training programs for project team members.
