POSITION SUMMARY:
         Rappahannock Goodwill Industries (RGI) is searching for a Senior Accountant who will be responsible for managing our accounting processes, systems, operations, and personnel. This individual will maintain our banking relationships and treasury systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Produce error-free consolidated accounting reports under GAAP in a timely manner.  Analyze financial information and summarize financial status. 
  • Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable including review of entries recorded into the SAGE Intacct accounting software.   
  • Work with Mission staff on all grant reporting; including recording the entries into the SAGE Intacct accounting software and completing all Journal Entries in compliance to the Single Audit.
  • Maintain all sales tax files and make timely sales tax payments for RGI. 
  • Prepare monthly and year-end financial reports for CFO for management presentations.
  • Prepare year end 1099 reports and file the reports through appropriate channels.
  • Assist with internal controls to safeguard the processes and assets of the company.  Ensure that controls remain effective as organization’s needs change.
  • Assist the CFO and research, acquire, and maintain relevant software and external support for financial and accounting systems.
  • Maintain and keep current all financial certifications and licensures on behalf of Rappahannock Goodwill Industries.
  • Assist in developing and executing appropriate financial training for all RGI management staff with revenue and expense responsibilities.
  • Support and coordinate internal and external audits and maintains relationships with other financial/accounting services partners.
  • Assist with and coordinate the banking relationships set up by the CFO.
  • Hires, evaluates, and terminates direct reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

 Education/Training:
  • BA or equivalent and 5+ years of related experience.  A master’s degree may be substituted for experience.
  • Strong knowledge of general accounting practices with ability to make appropriate and accurate accounting decisions.
  • Strong analytical and accounting skills.
  • Sage Intacct Software experience a must.  Martus experience is desired.
  • Experience with creating consolidated financial statements.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process.
  • Excellent accounting and online banking software user and administration skills.
  • Tax, payroll recording and reporting experience.
  • Experience with GAAP.
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to details.
  • The individual will be expected to work with minimal up-front guidance and take ownership of his/her work product.

Physical Demands:
•           Verbal and written communications, bending/walking/lifting to 25 pounds.
Working Conditions:
 
  • Remote position with occasional travel (including use of personal car).
