The technician's role involves guaranteeing the correct installation and functioning of specific Astec products. This encompasses tasks such as installation, commissioning, startup, training, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs. Technicians will collaborate with the engineering team to assess and resolve issues, as well as to provide training to customer employees on proper maintenance and operational procedures, all aimed at achieving optimal efficiency and customer satisfaction.
What You'll Do:- Maintain availability for emergency dispatch 24/7, 7 days a week, to support both customers and staff. All travel time Compensated.
- Execute installations under the guidance of more experienced colleagues.
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor when interacting with customers.
- Take responsibility for the correct startup and operation of all electrical, electronic/control systems, and mechanical components. This includes ensuring proper sequencing, interlocking, calibration, and system applications.
- Provide operator skills training to selected customer personnel, covering topics such as startup procedures, troubleshooting, fundamentals of electrical and mechanical systems, and control system operations.
- Create written field service reports documenting daily activities and submit them as necessary.
- Collaborate and communicate with Astec's sales, engineering, and manufacturing teams to address product or process issues, including warranty matters, design recommendations, and reporting any equipment damage during shipment or installation.
- Work closely with Functional Leadership, Product Support Managers, and Office Support Staff to ensure accurate service reports and associated billing.

- A high school diploma or equivalent (GED), with the potential for additional education and experience as deemed appropriate by management.
- Ideally, 0-2 years of experience in construction, manufacturing, or related fields.
- Preferably, 0-2 years of experience in the aggregate industry.
- Proficiency in understanding electrical and electronic circuits.
- Ability to interpret mechanical, electrical, and electronics blueprints and designs.
- Familiarity with circuitry, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, and other power transmission equipment.
- Willingness and readiness to travel extensively, both domestically and internationally, on short notice.
- Basic arithmetic skills and proficiency in computer applications (Windows, Microsoft Office, Concur, and all IPS Control Systems).
- Proficiency in welding, encompassing stick and certain types of wire welding (MIG), along with expertise in using a cutting torch, and knowledge of steel fabrication, assembly, and modifications is a plus.
- Strong written communication skills, demonstrated through the production of technical reports and logbooks, with the capacity to remain productive with minimal supervision.
