Position Summary:
Our client, StateTel, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller in Coxsackie, New York to oversee the financial operations of our organization. The Controller will be responsible for managing accounts payable, payroll, general ledger entries, and monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting. Additionally, this role involves ensuring accurate tax filings, overseeing billing processes, and coordinating with senior management and external accountants to meet all financial obligations and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:- Accounts Payable & Vendor Communication: Process invoices and payments through the IBM system, ensuring accurate data entry and resolving vendor discrepancies.
- Payroll Processing: Enter employee work hours, process payroll, update net pay via ACH transfer, and ensure tax and benefit deposits are timely.
- General Ledger (GL) Management: Process GL entries, monitor for errors, and prepare monthly financial statements (P&L, Board, and subsidiary reports).
- Customer Billing: Generate accurate customer bills for phone and internet services.
- Tax Compliance: Submit IRS and state payroll forms, manage quarterly tax payments, and ensure timely filing of required tax reports (e.g., 1120, GRT).
- Quarterly & Annual Reporting: Support quarterly Board meetings, file annual PSC and ORPS reports, and close the GL for year-end preparation.
- Tax Filings: Prepare for and file annual tax returns, including 1120 and NYS GRT filings, and manage capital additions/deletions for real property assessments.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or financial management, including payroll, accounts payable, and general ledger management.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. CPA certification preferred.
- Software Skills: Proficiency with accounting software and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Leadership Skills: Ability to supervise and work with internal teams, manage vendors, and communicate effectively with Board members and external consultants.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience in Tax Compliance: Familiarity with federal and state payroll tax regulations, including tax filings and payments.
- Advanced Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data and provide recommendations to improve processes and controls.
Working Conditions:- Full-time position (40 hours per week).
- Monday – Friday 8-4pm
- Occasional overtime may be required, particularly at month-end, quarter-end, and year-end.
Salary:- $75,000 - $85,000
