Your New Job
Job Summary: Splicer – Level 3 will splice and activate fiber cable. The Splicer – Level 3 will be the lead splicer on site. Primary responsibilities include ability to splice/test/repair cables/wires in both indoor and outdoor settings, read, create, and maintain splicing diagrams, maintain activities surrounding the assigned work site(s), and take splicing field notes.
Job Responsibilities:
Travels to and from job sites
Fusion splices SM ribbon and loose tube fiber optic cables, to include or terminate various types of fiber optic connectors (ST, SC, LC)
Installs and tests pressurized and non-pressurized closures on all types and sizes of cable
Analyzes and troubleshoots basic technical problems or issues
Reviews, interprets, and works with various maps, drawings and blueprints and testing documents.
Performs daily tests, checks and maintenance of splicing and testing equipment.
Performs optical continuity and conformance testing
Makes splicing rearrangements on existing facilities in buried, underground, aerial and building work locations
Responsible for managing after-hour outages and coordinating construction crews and subcontractors to ensure timely and efficient project completion.
Fully understands typical scopes and role
Adheres to all company policies, procedures, standards, and safety rules
Complies with all state and federal laws and regulations at all times
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license with clean driving record
Possesses OSHA 10, first aid/CPR and confined space training
Minimum of 5 year experience required in prepping and splicing ribbon fiber sized up to 864 fibers.
Minimum 5 year of experience prepping and splicing loose tube fiber, all sizes.
Minimum 5 year of experience installing, maintaining/repairing, and testing fiber optic networks, including bi-directional tests
Previous underground utility experience
Working knowledge using various fusion splicing and optical testing equipment including, Alcoa Fujikura, GN Net Test, EXFO, Fitel, Sumitomo, and Viavi.
Ability to operate a bucket truck
Ability to read job documents, understand projects, and execute work in a safe and efficient manner
Ability to troubleshoot
Basic understanding of Outlook, Excel and Word
Ability to read, review, interpret and understand technical documents.

Physical Demands and Working Environment:
Ability to climb and work at elevations (e.g., from ladders, poles, lift trucks, etc.)
Ability to work in confined spaces
Ability to work in adverse weather conditions which can include but is not limited to extreme heat and cold temperatures; inclement weather such as wind, rain, snow, sleet, and dust as well as adverse driving conditions including wet roads, icy roads, and fog
Ability to work at various job sites as required
Ability to report to work on time and as scheduled
Ability to work over-time; after hours; on weekends, for emergencies or on-call
Ability to exercise due diligence to drive safely and to maintain the security of the company vehicle and its contents
Ability to work while wearing PPE’s (safety boots, safety glasses, hardhat, and any applicable safety gear)
Previous experience in the telecom, utility, construction, and/or engineering industry
