Job Summary:
The Director of Construction reports to the Program Manager for the Memphis, Tennessee turn-key project. This role is client facing and will be directly responsible for the execution of all construction in accordance with the approved engineering and relevant permits.
Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):- Manage both direct labor crews and subcontractor teams to ensure smooth and efficient construction operations
- Monitor and record direct labor hours, subcontractor production, and earned quantities daily, accurately entering data into the Site Tracker tool.
- Take charge of crew, subcontractor, and property safety, implementing robust safety protocols and ensuring strict adherence.
- Develop comprehensive construction project sequences, including crew staffing, equipment utilization, material deliveries, and subcontractor coordination.
- Adaptation and Problem-Solving: Exercise discretion to plan and modify project schedules in response to field conditions, aligning with client and company goals.
- Resolve complex construction-related issues, disputes, and disagreements as they arise.
- Direct Field Superintendents and Foreman to gather timely project production information using various construction operations management software.
- Provide training and feedback to promote their growth and advancement.
- Oversee work against benchmarks and timetables to ensure adherence to schedule and budgetary guidelines.
- Ensure availability of all required equipment and materials on-site for construction projects.
- Manage and lead actions during delays, adverse weather, or emergencies at construction sites.
- Collaborate with clients, Project Managers, supervisory staff, contractors, engineering professionals, and permitting agencies to discuss and resolve project-related matters.
- Supervise overall project construction field correspondence, ensuring proper compensation for all completed work in accordance with the contract.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in fiber optic construction, managing multiple, large-scale fiber network builds.
- Detailed knowledge of all aspects of fiber network construction, including underground and aerial construction and splicing.
- Strong conflict resolution skills and the ability to manage conflicts between different project members and staff.
- Excellent negotiation, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills with all levels of staff and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in guiding teams to complete projects within schedule, budget guidelines, and customer requirements.
- Ability to make informed and prompt decisions, working efficiently under pressure and handling unexpected occurrences or delays.
- Sound technical knowledge, combined with analytical, communication, and customer service skills.
- Detail-oriented with the capacity to document complex processes with input from multiple parties.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Systems and construction operations management software.
- Experience in Sitetracker and Vetro software
