LOCATION
Candidates should be based in the NY metro area. We are a hybrid organization and work three days per week in our downtown New York City office.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Comic Relief US is seeking a Director of Digital Fundraising to evolve and grow our online giving program. You will be responsible for delivering on ambitious fundraising and annual revenue goals operating our digital donor acquisition, cultivation, and conversion efforts.
A successful candidate is skilled in both the art and science of full-funnel digital fundraising, from building awareness and engagement through conversion and donor relationship management. You are both a strategic and tactical thinker, steeped in best practices in email, SMS, and paid media. You are practiced in the art of segmentation and understand how to tailor messaging based on audience, goal, and platform, including proven success in engaging leadership and major donors. You are analytical and performance-driven – and have experience planning and writing successful cultivation and appeal communications.
This hands-on role requires experience with HubSpot Marketing Hub to build and manage campaigns, automated messaging, etc.
This position reports to the Acting Head of Content, Creative, and Digital and collaborates closely with our Fundraising and Development team, particularly the Director of Individual Giving, to craft messaging, plan appeals, and manage our donor pipeline.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Strategy 15%- Research and develop audience insights to inform strategy, day-to-day tactics, and campaign planning and drive growth, engagement, and conversion, including approaches to segmentation, communication cadence, and content.
- Develop and steward a re-engagement program to tap lapsed donors and unengaged email audiences.
- Develop and steward monthly giving program, including approaches to improve monthly donor conversion and retention.
- End-to-end ownership of email and SMS communications.
- Create and maintain a calendar.
- Write or requisition emails, landing pages, and social and advertising content, working closely with our Content Director.
- Requisition design.
- Build and send emails and SMS communications, including newsletters, fundraising campaigns, automated series including nurture and drip campaigns, auto-responders, etc.
- Test performance to optimize segmentation, content, design, send times, and other factors leading to improvement across metrics, including click-through, conversion, etc.
- Work closely with the Director of Product and Projects to optimize landing page UX.
- Manage check-out experience and user flows to optimize conversion, including building donation forms and implementing tracking.
- Manage Google Grant and SEM partner, ensuring grants grow and budgets are spent to drive growth.
- Implement paid social advertising campaigns to drive donor acquisition and conversion.
- Monitor and manage paid media budgets and performance to ensure investments meet or exceed industry ROI standards.
- Implement and maintain proper source coding, UTM tracking, URL development, etc., to ensure full-funnel performance tracking.
- Provide weekly, quarterly, and campaign-specific performance reports, including analysis and key insights that will inform ongoing strategy and decision-making.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- 7 years+ relevant experience
- Significant experience in nonprofit communications, including fundraising
- Expert in best practices for acquisition, conversion, retention, and increasing donor lifetime value via email, social, paid media, etc.
- Experience managing email programs from end to end including analysis, planning, segmentation, content development, automation/customization
- Experience using large-scale CRM, including creating emails and campaigns
- Experience using HubSpot a plus
- Strong writing skills
- Strong project management skills
- Proficient in Google Tag Manager and UTM tracking
- Proficient in basic HTML
- Proficient in Google Workspace, MS Office, Asana, Trello, and similar systems
- Passion and commitment to the mission and vision of Comic Relief US
- Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple projects and priorities while coordinating workflow in a deadline-driven and service-focused environment
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with a range of teams, co-workers, external vendors, and senior leaders in person and by writing/phone
- Comfortable moving between executing big-picture strategies and detailed tactical plans

THE PAY
CRUS offers competitive compensation. The salary range for this role is anticipated to be $110,000 to $145,000. The actual salary is dependent upon many factors, including, but not limited to, abilities, skills, work experience, knowledge, business needs, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified.
