Salary Range: $55,000 - $60,000 plus competitive benefits package

The Role
The Union for Reform Judaism’s Eisner Camp is looking for an experienced Food Service Manager to lead our food operations. The camp offers vibrant summer and year-round programs for a diverse community. As the Food Service Manager, you'll oversee all food services, ensuring high standards of quality, health, safety, and customer service. You'll manage a team from diverse backgrounds, focusing on creating an inclusive environment. Note: Year-round retreats require working weekends, and onsite living is available during summer and retreat weekends.
What You Will Do
The Food Service Manager reports to the Business Manager and is responsible for the following:

Plan and prepare menus for year-round retreats, keeping up with culinary trends, kitchen processes, and allergen management.

Oversee daily food operations, including meal planning, preparation, service, and dietary accommodations.

Ensure compliance with food service policies, including cut-off dates and meal options.

Manage food service budgets for the retreat center and summer, including purchasing, inventory, cost control, and invoicing.

Obtain vendor bids for food, equipment, and services and make recommendations as needed.

Follow Department of Public Health regulations.

Keep kitchen equipment, food storage, and service areas clean and sanitized.

Work with rental clients to meet menu and service deadlines.

Foster an inclusive and supportive team culture.

Arrange substitutes for absent staff and ensure personnel policies are followed.

Hire, supervise, evaluate, and coach food service staff, ensuring a positive and motivated team. Verify staff payroll.

Food Service Management: You have proven experience in food service management, ideally in a camp or similar setting. You’re energetic, passionate, and team-oriented, with a caring personality and the ability to efficiently manage a clean, cost-effective kitchen. You have strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
Communication: You possess strong verbal and written communication skills, able to engage individuals or groups from diverse backgrounds. You bring a sense of humor and patience to your interactions. You’re comfortable using email and other IT systems.
Self-Management & Accountability: You can prioritize and manage your time effectively while maintaining personal well-being. You communicate your needs and challenges clearly, creating a collaborative environment. You’re responsible and timely in communication with colleagues and stakeholders. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Flexibility to work during weekends and stay onsite for retreats as needed. Year-round retreats include a significant number of weekends. Onsite living can be arranged during the retreat weekends.

Must be able to become ServSafe, ChokeSaver (CPR), and Allergen Awareness certified within 60 days of employment.
