​​Position Overview:The Policy Manager, Product Policy is responsible for generating insights and engaging with member businesses and federal policy makers in impactful ways that support and expand the reach of Consumer Brands’ product policy objectives. Reporting to the SVP, Federal Affairs and Product Policy, the Policy Manager will monitor developing policy and regulations and identify opportunities to shape and enhance the association’s effectiveness. 

Key areas of responsibility:

Member Engagement 

  • Coordinate member engagement on key issues and build support for Consumer Brands’ product policy activities. 

  • Provide analysis, research, data and issue-related information to staff, members, and other internal stakeholders. 

  • Partner with our communications team to convey product policy narrative as well as industry progress and achievements. 

  • Coordinate with our regulatory and legal teams to drive unified objectives and tactics  

  • Facilitate select product policy program meetings and solicit member company feedback, ensuring participation through structured agenda-setting and programmatic refinements. 

  • Heighten awareness to Consumer Brands’ product policy advocacy and industry affairs efforts. 
     

Advocacy 

  • Monitor and analyze federal legislation, regulations, emerging policies and issues that impact CPG product policy initiatives. 

  • Engage with Members of Congress, Congressional staff and administration officials (this position is required to be registered as a federal lobbyist) 

  • Draft correspondences to elected officials, staff and other relevant policy makers  
     

Stakeholder Management 

  • Coordinate Consumer Brands Industry Partners meetings and outreach  

  • Represent the association and its policy positions at industry meetings and events. 

  • Collaborate with coalition partners, attending public facing events and conferences. 

  • Support the development of position papers, draft correspondence and prepare other materials to articulate the organization’s position to stakeholders.

     

Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

  • 3-5 years of professional experience. 

  • Demonstrated interest in consumer packaged goods policy, especially as it relates to federal advocacy. 

  • Advocacy or public affairs campaign experience preferred. Congressional office or federal/state agency experience a plus.

  • Advanced proficiency in Office 365 Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
