Job Summary:

The ISP Technician installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs ISP cabling. An ISP Technician must be able to install single-mode and multimode fiber optic cabling and category 5e/6/6A copper cabling for business clients. This includes mechanical terminations with Uni-cam, Fast-cam, or likewise type connectors. Tasks include installing data and voice cable systems, raceway, conduit, racks, cabinets, cable suspension hardware, and other cable-related equipment. Other duties may include drilling/coring of walls and floors, cable placement and termination, setting ground cables, installing equipment, and troubleshooting any problems with the cable system. To ensure success as an ISP Technician, you should have a mid-high-level knowledge of low voltage systems and cable technology. You should be able to work in cramped spaces, and at heights, and interact with clients in a friendly and professional manner.

 

Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

· Responsible for coordination with the Foreman and/or Construction/Project Manager.

· Works with onsite customer contact at the job site.

· Capable of reading job docs and understanding projects.

· Execute work in a safe and efficient manner.

· Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair cable infrastructure.

· Perform maintenance on existing cabling systems.

· Testing newly installed or relocated cables.

· Identify and remove redundant cabling.

· Troubleshoot issues with the cable network.

· Install cable support structures such as j-hooks, cable racks, and innerduct.

· Ensure all cables are neatly tied and bundled according to safety regulations.

· Performs other duties, as assigned.

 

Required Skills & Qualifications:

General

· BICSI Installer Certifications are preferred.

· Ability to install voice and data cabling.

· Ability to install fiber optic cabling and terminate mechanical connections.

· Ability to understand and operate testing equipment for troubleshooting and certifying purposes.

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

· Familiarity with copper and fiber optic color codes.

· Valid driver's license and vehicle insurance.

· Provide personal minor hand tools (such as screwdrivers, wire cutters, punch-down tools, etc.)

· Clean driving and criminal record and ability to pass DOJ background checks for access into government and school facilities.

· Possess mid to high-level knowledge of installing and bending EMT conduit.

· Microsoft Excel and Work knowledge.

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment

· Must be able and willing to work indoors and outdoors, subject to inclement weather conditions

· Must be able to maintain visual and audible contact with other crewman and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement

· Must be able to work around heavy equipment and machinery

· Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time

· Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

· Routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting

· Must be able to stand, walk, sit or be in other physically demanding positions for long periods of time

· Must be able to work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses, hardhat, and any applicable safety gear

 

Required Licenses/Certificates/Registrations:

· OSHA 10
