Your New Job

Job Summary:

Responsible for the engineering design and drafting of the most cost-effective, accurate and high quality OSP and/or ISP work/fine prints while meeting or exceeding all client deadlines. Design requirements vary by project (client/region/district/job type).

Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

·       Work in various customer specific systems to produce a cost-effective engineered design for construction to place, splice, install and maintain for many years to come.

·       Identify assigned fiber/copper pairs at strategic access points and design an aerial and/or underground path from point A to point B.

·       Identify the necessary requirements to successfully attach fiber/copper cables to poles as well as place cables in the underground environments.

·       Engineer in the public right of way and on private property avoiding conflict with existing facilities.

·       Initiate internal work order requests for other departments necessary to complete entire project.

·       Update necessary tracking system(s) to ensure project and/or program status is maintained with complete accuracy, including third party management systems.

·       Communicate all issues to management prior to reaching critical status.

·       Develop and maintain accurate and complete files for projects, monitoring for integrity and completeness.

·       Always meet or exceed internal and external quality standards, and on-time delivery.

·       Other relevant duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

General

·       Advanced level of OSP design knowledge.

·       Knowledge of industry standards.

·       Capable of designing outside plant work orders (EWO).

·       Provide administrative and field support to the outside plant provisioning process. 

·       Be familiar with the various communications outside plant engineering concepts.

·       Ability to utilize facility analysis process to select areas for rehabilitation, coordinate field work, preparation of work order drawings and documentation.

·       Knowledge and skill to access, read, and interpret work order records, navigate ACAS, Aramis Records, Waldo, AOtX, MIC, IWM, USH, etc.

·       Provide work order estimated expenditures and/or placement and joint use memos.  NJUNS.

·       Knowledge understanding infrastructure plans (highway, sewer, bridge, etc.) and survey information.

·       Understand FDOT requirements and notifications (respond as required).  UWS proficient.

·       Attend and/or lead project related Construction field meetings, including and not limited to with AT&T local construction groups and/or road contractors and other utilities.

·       Conflict ID and Conflict Mitigation (RGBs) understanding.

·       Ability to work alongside at the office and in the field, with local AT&T Engineer staff.

Technical

• Experience working in a Windows environment; Office 365, SharePoint and MS Excel Knowledge & experience in AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS or client proprietary design systems
• Knowledge & experience with project management processes, tools, and the ability to coordinate multiple projects with reproducible results

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM discipline preferred
• Construction experience preferred
• Field experience preferred
• Knowledge & experience in telecommunications, outside plant engineering design or field inspection, and/or network construction
• Knowledge of fiber networking, routing, and network management
• Knowledge and understanding of various broadband network designs and architecture
