Role Summary
Howard University Hospital is seeking an experienced LAN Technician Manager to lead on-site IT support operations across clinical and business environments. This role serves as the primary escalation point for LAN support, oversees daily service operations, and ensures reliable end-user computing services in a regulated healthcare setting. The ideal candidate brings strong technical depth, people leadership experience, and a process-driven approach to service delivery.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and manage daily operations of the LAN support team, including staffing, time and attendance, workflow coordination, and service coverage
- Serve as the single point of contact for on-site IT support operations and escalation for complex incidents and requests
- Oversee incident management, request fulfillment, and access management for end-user computing services
- Provide hands-on escalation support for LAN Technicians and the Service Desk as needed
- Support installation, configuration, maintenance, and administration of end-point devices including desktops, laptops, tablets, peripherals, and clinical devices
- Conduct site surveys and assess current equipment, configurations, and user requirements
- Partner with IT leadership, vendors, and internal stakeholders on device deployments, refresh cycles, and project-based implementations
- Follow change, release, and configuration management processes and standard operating procedures
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators, service metrics, and operational outcomes
- Support continuous process improvement initiatives using Lean, DMAIC, ITIL, or similar methodologies
Required Qualifications
- Seven (7) years of experience supporting workstations, peripherals, and end-point devices in an enterprise environment
- Five (5) years of supervisory or people management experience
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft technologies, including Windows operating systems
- Advanced understanding of computer hardware, peripherals, and end-point device integration
- Experience working in regulated environments with demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA
- Working knowledge of IT project management principles and ITIL best practices
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to operate effectively in high-stress, mission-critical environments
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- A+ Certification
- Experience supporting Cerner workstations and clinical peripherals
- Healthcare or other mission-critical industry experience
- Experience applying Lean Six Sigma, DMAIC, or formal process improvement methodologies

Pay + Schedule
- Salary Range: $118,976.00 - $190,340.80
- Schedule: Monday - Friday; occasional evenings and weekends, as needed
- FLSA Status: Exempt
- Schedule: Day shift; flexibility required with on-call and after-hours support as needed
