ABOUT THE POSITION

Supports Engineering and Production control departments to ensure parts and all related documents are current in the system for appropriate scheduling of heavy equipment builds.  Monitors processing to ensure documentation is completed throughout all departments. Produces large scale prints for office personnel on a as needed basis.

 

Key Deliverables

·         Review all documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.

·         Participate and contribute job related support, guidance, and ideas in team discussions.

·         Deliver training to process owners on the correct document structure and control tool usage.

·         Ensure documents comply with regulations and work to revise documentations where needed.

·         Distribute project-related documentation to internal teams, fellow organizations, and trading partners.

 

Key Activities & Responsibilities

·         Maintain Document Control status on the computer.

·         Create and maintain departmental procedures and processes on an as needed basis.

·         Provide Engineered and Procured documentational input in our data system from various sources including Oracle, AX, and Solid Works PDM while ensuring accuracy. (IRs and NIRs)

·         Track and maintain procedural process for Engineered and Procured parts throughout all departments to ensure data is being process and is completed.

·         Approve processing of Engineered and Procured parts after ensuring the required tasks have been completed for all departments.

·         Maintain and control Engineering office supplies.

·         Support the CI Director of Engineering in developing plans and courses for training, as well as coordinating and monitoring the Document Control budget and expenditures.

·         Advise CI Director of Engineering of any known problems related to document control.

·         Assist internal and external office personnel with documentational needs, inquiries, and training.

·         Perform work in accordance with application policies, procedures, and work                       instructions.

·         Perform other related duties as assigned and required.

·         Support plotter needs, maintenance with vendors, and plotting machine supplies.

·         Proficient in promoting safe and healthy work environment.

·         Adheres to established company policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations.

·         Wears personal protective equipment in accordance with training guidelines.

·         Maintain cleanliness in designated workspace by practicing 6S principles to reduce safety risks.

·         Attend scheduled meetings including weekly updates, system processes, reports, self-training, and supportive training.

 

To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:

·         Associate of Art's degree (A.A.) from two-year College or similar degree from a technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training working at a machining center; or equivalent combination of education and experience equivalent as deemed sufficient by management.

·          5+ years as a document control employee required for a heavy manufacturing industry or demonstrated abilities through on-the-job training or education. 

·         3+ years’ knowledge of and experience working with ERP systems, Microsoft Dynamics Oracle, AX, and Solid Works PDM experience preferred.  

·         Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and bills of material (BOM’s).

·         Configuration Management training or equivalent experience, desired.

·         Continue to grow lean knowledge and use the tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement.

·         Maintain positive, cooperative working relationships by working, acting, and communicating with various personalities getting along with customers, vendors, co-workers, and management working both individually and as part of a team.

·         Skill in working efficiently and accurately to keep up with engineering and production requirements.

·         Capacity to learn quickly, detail oriented, strong organizational and excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

·         Flexible and adaptable in coping with pressures, deadlines, and rapidly changing situations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

Manufacturing Environment

Shop manufacturing environment exposures include exposure to moving mechanical parts, machinery, tools and equipment, vibration, fumes or airborne particles, motorized vehicles, welding and machining operations, outside weather conditions and exposure to the risk of electric shock.  The employee may occasionally be exposed to varying levels of dirt, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, very warm and/or very chilly temperatures.  The noise level in the shop can be very loud at times consistent with an industrial assembly facility and may require hearing protection.
