ABOUT THE POSITION
The Instructional Designer will design and develop training materials, programs, courses, and assessments for the operation and service of heavy equipment to meet the internal and external customer needs of the Astec. The ideal candidate has a passion for designing learning solutions that drive improved performance and revenue production and has a proven track record for project management and teamwork.
Deliverables & Responsibilities

Work with subject matter experts and identify target audiences training needs.

Conduct instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts.

Maintain project documentation and course folders.

Set instructional end goals and create content that matches them.

Design learning activities, assignments, and assessments.

Conduct training analysis to identify the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to complete operation and service tasks for heavy equipment

Develop an instructional strategy/learning plan based on established learning objectives for the given audience

Collaborate with stakeholders and subject matter experts to design and adapt content that meets specific training needs

Write and edit blueprints, storyboards, video scripts, job aids and other strategic learning documentation

Design and develop blended learning solutions adhering to adult learning theories that include, but are not limited to, instructor-led, eLearning, mobile, video, gamification, simulation, micro-learning, and virtual classroom

Ensure training programs/materials comply with Astec branding standards

Use innovative assessments and sustainment tools before and after the formal learning experience

Manage multiple projects to achieve project goals and meet deadlines

Provide guidance regarding course content, methods, and media used for delivery

Provide counsel for New Product service and operation training programs

Drive curriculum enhancements, innovation, design and research to ensure the development and maintenance of high-quality learning programs for dealers, direct customers, technicians and marketing personnel

Review content and resources to ensure adherence to development standards and industry best practices

Stay abreast of training trends, technologies, and available resources, and make recommendations for the best value resources

Manage and maintain the Learning Management System, web delivery, mobile apps, internal training repository and other delivery platforms

Projects positive company image by interacting with fellow employees, customers and management in a cooperative, supportive and courteous manner; displays professional attitude; complies with company dress code

Communicates with individuals at all levels within the organization

Documents assigned tasks as required

Performs work according to supervisor's directives

To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:

Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, graphic design, computer science, software design, web design, or related field and 2+ years’ experience OR

5+ years of instructional design experience or related experience in training development and learning methodologies

Demonstrated experience in the production and development of instructional content for web delivery

Experience with blended e-Learning solutions

Competence in the development of online courses for delivery in a learning management system

Experience with authoring tools such as Adobe Captivate and Articulate 360

Experience with learning management systems (Absorb, Docebo, Raven360, and LearnUpon)

Self-starter with the ability to work in a team-based atmosphere with high standards for accuracy, quality, and innovation

Ability to work in a high volume, production environment that requires flexibility and adaptability to change

Stays on top of assigned work priorities, checking with leadership to clarify, confirm, and strategize for priority, workload and workflow

Strong organizational skills and project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines

Ability to be proactive, cooperative, take ownership of assigned responsibilities and work with little supervision

Proven competency in launching and delivering multiple projects/programs
