✈️ 10–20% TravelBuild the Technology Behind Life-Saving Medical Devices
MMT is a global leader in advanced catheter manufacturing equipment and process development for the medical device industry. We design and build precision systems that enable the creation of minimally invasive, life-saving products used around the world.
We are seeking a hands-on, solutions-driven Applications Engineer II who thrives at the intersection of advanced process development, lab-based engineering, and customer collaboration. This role is ideal for someone energized by complex manufacturing challenges, confident working directly with customers, and motivated to turn technical expertise into real-world medical innovation. If you are the type of engineer who doesn’t wait for answers but builds them through testing, troubleshooting, and creative problem-solving, you will excel here.
What You’ll Do
As an Applications Engineer II, you will serve as a technical expert supporting both customer applications and internal process development. You will:
- Partner directly with customers and internal teams to evaluate catheter manufacturing challenges and recommend process and equipment solutions
- Conduct proof-of-concept and validation trials in our Applications Lab (tipping, flaring, bonding, drilling, hole-forming)
- Develop and refine repeatable process parameters including thermal profiles, mandrel configurations, air pressure, alignment, and timing
- Perform hands-on troubleshooting, testing, and iterative problem-solving to deliver reliable manufacturing results
- Prepare detailed technical reports and present findings to customers and cross-functional stakeholders
- Support equipment builds, system programming, and customer buyoffs prior to shipment
- Provide training and technical guidance on equipment operation and process control
- Troubleshoot complex process issues and lead root-cause analysis efforts
- Collaborate with R&D on new process capabilities, tooling improvements, and automation enhancements
- Provide technical training and support to customers and internal teams
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to quality and productivity
- Travel domestically and internationally (10–20%) to support customer applications and system implementations
- This role combines lab work, engineering analysis, and customer interaction — ideal for someone who enjoys both technical depth and professional engagement.
What We’re Looking For
We are currently looking for an engineer who:
- Thinks beyond standard solutions and approaches problems creatively
- Enjoys working hands-on in a lab environment troubleshooting, testing, and refining processes
- Has strong communication skills and is comfortable interacting directly with clients
- Is confident presenting technical findings and guiding customers through process solutions
- Is open to domestic and international travel
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related Engineering field
(Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree — 10+ years in a comparable engineering function)
Experience
- 3–5 years in applications, manufacturing, or process engineering
- Experience in medical device or precision manufacturing environments
- Strong preference for catheter manufacturing processes (tipping, flaring, bonding, drilling)
- Experience with process validation, DOE, and capability analysis
Technical Skills
- Experience with process validation, DOE, and capability analysis
- Working knowledge of polymers and materials used in catheter and tubing applications such as Pebax, Nylon, PTFE, and FEP strongly preferred
- Familiarity with ISO 13485 and FDA QSR environments
- Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings
- Strong documentation and technical report writing skills
- Hands-on mindset with strong analytical problem-solving ability
- Comfortable working in both lab and production settings
Why Join MMT?
- Work on technology that directly supports life-saving medical devices
- Collaborate with global customers and engineering leaders
- Be part of a highly technical, innovation-driven team
- Gain exposure to advanced manufacturing systems and automation
- Opportunity for travel and customer-facing technical leadership
Working Environment
This role includes regular lab work using precision equipment, collaboration with engineering and production teams, and occasional travel to customer sites (10–20%). The position requires attention to detail, comfort in controlled lab environments, and the ability to manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced setting
If you are a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving real manufacturing challenges and working directly with customers to deliver repeatable, high-precision solutions, we would love to connect with you.
Apply today and help shape the future of minimally invasive medical technology.
