Hybrid: Three-days onsite per week. 

Position Overview

We are seeking a Contract Manager to support our client's business objectives by negotiating, executing, and managing commercial contracts for the acquisition of goods and services. This role requires expertise in contract law, acquisition strategy, and vendor management, with a focus on ensuring contracts align with organizational needs while managing risk and cost effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Negotiate, execute, and manage commercial contracts for the acquisition of goods and services
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts
  • Lead negotiations on contract modifications with stakeholder input
  • Provide assistance to internal stakeholders on contractual matters, requirements, risk management, and mitigation strategies
  • Ensure the level of effort and attention to detail is commensurate with the complexity, value, and risk associated with each acquisition
  • Establish acquisition strategies including contract type, milestones, and contractible requirements
  • Coordinate contract and purchase agreement reviews with Procurement Management and the Office of General Counsel as required
  • Analyze proposals in conjunction with business units and perform cost or price analysis, including review of cost breakdowns to determine reasonableness
  • Develop negotiation objectives and lead negotiations related to contract pricing, terms, and conditions with potential contractors, conferring with the Office of General Counsel and subject matter experts as appropriate
  • Meet with business units and vendors prior to contract execution to review key contract terms, conditions, requirements, deliverables, and timelines
  • Interpret contract provisions for business units and provide appropriate guidance
  • Lead negotiations on contract modifications
  • Close out contracts or issue termination notices and review settlement proposals
  • Present alternatives and recommendations to solve unique and complex problems
  • Ensure clear, concise, and effective communication with all stakeholders
  • Anticipate issues and identify solutions proactively

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in contract law, terms, and conditions
  • Experience in acquisition planning, strategy development, negotiations, contract management and administration, pricing analysis, and acquisition-related requirements
  • Significant knowledge of commercial and business practices to develop, execute, and manage contracts
  • Significant knowledge of evaluating and mitigating risk in contracts
  • Significant experience in written bid and proposal preparation
  • Skill in exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions
  • Effective word processing and spreadsheet software skills
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of cost containment strategies
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively both independently and in a team environment, ensuring timely completion of assignments and meeting established standards
  • Advanced research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective skill in interacting tactfully and effectively in difficult situations
  • Bachelor's degree or above in Business, Contract Management, Information Technology, or related field
