We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Public Safety Consulting Intern to support our operations and consulting teams in improving project execution, research, and knowledge management related to public safety initiatives. This internship offers students pursuing degrees in Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, Emergency Management, Public Administration, or related fields the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with professionals who support 911 centers, emergency communications, and public safety agencies across the country.
Interns will gain valuable insight into how consulting projects support law enforcement agencies, emergency communications centers (911), and local governments in improving operations, technology, and community response programs. This role requires a professional committed to teamwork and success by embracing and living our core values of Persistence, Integrity, Trust, Accountability, and Prudence.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist consulting and operations teams in improving project efficiency by supporting workflow organization and process improvements that help public safety projects stay on schedule and within scope.
- Capture and document key insights from internal meetings and discussions with public safety agencies so important information is preserved and accessible for project teams.
- Maintain and enhance the Project Manager Dashboard to help track consulting engagements with public safety agencies and provide visibility into project progress.
- Support organization of team folders and project documentation to ensure consultants working with 911 centers and public safety organizations can quickly access important information.
- Assist in developing surveys and questionnaires to gather feedback from public safety stakeholders such as emergency communications centers, local governments, and first responder agencies.
- Conduct research on alternative response programs and innovative public safety initiatives being implemented by metropolitan communities across the country.
- Research emerging trends and technologies related to public safety communications, emergency response systems, and 911 operations to support consulting teams with up-to-date industry knowledge.
- Collaborate with consulting team members to develop communication materials and reports that help explain project findings to public safety stakeholders.
- Provide administrative and logistical support to consulting teams to help ensure projects run smoothly and deliverables are completed on time.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
FINAL PRESENTATION REQUIREMENT: To wrap up your internship experience at MCP, you’ll have the opportunity to create a final presentation highlighting one of the major projects you worked on. This is your chance to showcase what you learned, your role on the project, the contributions you made, challenges you tackled, and the impact your work had. The presentation is designed to highlight your technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and how your efforts helped drive the project’s success.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, Emergency Management, Public Administration, Public Safety, or a related field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong research, analytical thinking, and attention to detail
- Ability to handle confidential or sensitive information related to public safety agencies
- Demonstrated professionalism and integrity
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams); familiarity with Smartsheet or SharePoint is a plus
- Interest in public safety operations, emergency communications, government consulting, or emergency management
- Ability to collaborate with teams and communicate professionally across different stakeholders
- Access to reliable high-speed internet for remote collaboration and video meetings
