Job Description
The Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily production activities within a fast-paced Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) contract manufacturing environment. This role ensures efficient workflow, adherence to quality standards, and on-time delivery of products while maintaining a safe and organized manufacturing floor. The Operations Supervisor leads production personnel, coordinates with cross-functional teams, and supports continuous improvement efforts to meet customer and operational objectives.
Responsibilities
· Supervise day-to-day production operations including SMT, THT, PCB assembly, box build, and test processes.
· Coordinate daily production schedules and priorities to support on-time delivery commitments.
· Monitor key production metrics such as throughput, yield, labor efficiency, and schedule adherence; address issues impacting performance.
· Assign work, balance labor resources, and adjust staffing or production priorities as needed to meet changing customer or production requirements.
· Work closely with engineering, materials, quality, and program management teams to resolve production issues and support customer programs.
· Provide leadership, training, and direction to production leads, operators, and technicians.
· Ensure compliance with company policies, applicable IPC standards, and workplace safety requirements.
· Maintain strict adherence to company policies related to ITAR, export control, documentation, and traceability requirements.
· Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient production environment, including implementation of 5S practices.
· Identify production issues or bottlenecks and escalate or implement corrective actions to improve productivity and reduce waste.
· Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives within the production area.
· Assist with New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, including process validation and work instruction development.
Qualifications and Experience
· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
· 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within EMS or electronics assembly.
· Previous supervisory, lead, or team leadership experience preferred.
· Working knowledge of SMT, THT, PCB assembly, and electronic test processes.
· Ability to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
· Strong leadership and team development skills.
· Solid problem-solving and analytical abilities.
· Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement practices.
· Experience working with ERP/MRP systems.
· Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Working Conditions:
Normal office environment
9/80 work schedule, with every other Friday off
