We are currently recruiting a Seasonal Trails Assistant to work with our Landscape & Conservation branch for the 2026 spring and summer seasons.

Under the direction of our Ecosystems Manager, the Seasonal Trails Assistant will be responsible for routine trail maintenance tasks to ensure guest accessibility and trail beautification throughout the Arboretum’s grounds, collections, and natural areas.

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), non-exempt, seasonal position with an hourly rate of $16.00. 

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform routine landscape maintenance tasks such as mowing and invasive plant removals within trails.
•          Operate a variety of equipment to include but not limited to tractor, brush hog, excavator, stump grinder, chipper, trencher, chainsaw, mowers, backhoe, skid steer loader, and transport vehicles.
•          Assist with sign installations.
•          Assist with tree removals within trails.
•          Assist with event preparation, including set-up and tear down.
•          Remove leaves, debris, and litter from grounds.
•         Assist with special projects as needed.
  
  

Qualifications:

•          High school diploma/general education degree (GED), or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience.
•          Must be at least 18 years of age.
•          Must be able and willing to work outside in all types of weather conditions.
•          Ability to follow directions and work well with others.
•          Ability to independently perform job requirements in a reasonable amount of time.
•          Must be able to lift in excess of 50 pounds, walk frequently, bend, climb a ladder, stoop, dig, and raise arms above head.
•          Must have a current valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
•          Regular and timely attendance is essential.
•          Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
