ABOUT THE POSITION

 

The Group Director of Supply Chain is responsible for the leadership, optimization, strategy, and execution of Strategic Procurement, Supply Chain, Materials Management and Logistics for an Astec Business Group and Strategic Sourcing. This position will integrate closely with the businesses and functions to foster a culture of executing on customer satisfaction, cost, quality and efficiency improvements, and assure supplier performance to provide exceptional value to Astec.  A key success factor is being able to clearly articulate the category vision and influence the organization.  Value contribution and streamlining roles, systems and processes will be a major contributor to the strategic goals of supply chain and contribution to the company’s performance and bottom-line results.

 

 

 

 

Deliverables & Responsibilities

 

·       Drive operational excellence in supply chain capabilities through a 3-year strategic roadmap.

·       Ensure alignment with vision of company business and growth strategies and effective execution of agreed Global category strategies.

·       Provides leadership for all Group supply chain and inventory operations.

·       Develop appropriate Group supply strategies and negotiation approaches aligned with Operations Strategy and Global Procurement Initiatives.

·       Achieve Cost Out & Cash In Objectives– Global, Group, Site, including cost down, inventory optimization, timely receiving of deliveries and disbursement of shipments.

·       Centralize support for Procurement, Material Planning, Logistics, Analysis & Inventory Control driving process improvement and cost efficiencies for the Group.

·       First point of contact to Engineering for early involvement in new product development.

·       Optimize and maintain scalable/sustainable processes to drive effective procurement and supply chain across the organization.

·       Active participant developing and contributing to building, implementing, standardizing and enforcing procurement department policies and procedures.

·       Led make vs. buy initiatives and work with the Maunfacturing Leadership to adjust to a more efficient model at the business level.

·       Partner with the engineering and manufacturing teams to optimize the supply platform.

·       Develop RFQ’s, prepare for and lead significant Vendor/Contract negotiations ensuring Astec is getting the most competitive pricing for its external spending.

·       Track key metrics and measures to gauge the success of the function

·       Be a strong contributor to the budgeting process initially and throughout the year by comparing actual to budget and providing projections and run rates to management

·       Work closely with the Operational Leads (Tactical Buyer) and Material Planning organization to ensure alignment and effective execution of the agreed category strategies.

 

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

 

·       Directly manages 10 to 12 Managers with annual spend responsibility of approximately $400-500M, and operating budget of $1M+.

 

To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:

 

·       10+ years’ progressive experience in Procurement, Supply Chain and Materials Management for large global/multinational, process driven companies, building and optimizing programs across diverse teams and cultures.

·       BS or BA degree required and Advanced University Degree (Master’s Degree or equivalent) preferred in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or related field. 

·       ASCM or APICS certification as CSCP, CPIM, CLTD, ISM certification, preferred.

·       In depth knowledge and experience of strategic procurement, supply chain and material management processes.

·       Demonstrated success in formulating strategic sourcing strategies, developing and maintaining effective relationships with key suppliers, and establishing effective processes and methods of ensuring satisfactory supplier performance.

·       Strong project management and leadership skills.

·       Excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate change management with colleagues and key contacts throughout the company.

·       Strong data analytical, financial and research capabilities, proven problem-solving skills. Ability to make appropriate decisions.

·       Excellent and proven negotiation skills, master at spend segmentation, global and strategic category management and risk management.

·       Maintain inventory control; ensures accuracy of data in purchasing computer system and maintains stock records; rotates supplies; checks for outdates, maintains appropriate par levels; establishes reorder points for all supplies.

·       Understanding of Procure to Pay processes including ERP systems similar to Oracle, SAP, AX; proficiency with SRM & Microsoft Office applications; and the ability learn additional IT analytical programs.

·       Ability to work within a global matrix organization.
