ABOUT THE POSITION
The Sales Engineer will perform the necessary work to size, layout, cost, propose and audit performance of material processing systems for customers in the aggregate, mining, industrial and recycling markets within the Materials Solutions (MS) Group.
Key Deliverables
· Review and respond to RFQ/RFP Tenders. Store information and submit proposals and documentation into the client’s web base portal
· Prepare cost estimates and gross margin potential on proposed equipment. Save in the project file and to share with regional hub.
· Advise internal and external customers on the proper selection of our equipment based on application and operational information.
· Provide support to customers and resolve issues with equipment in the field.
· Collect, analyze, and summarize sale information to report market changes and application trends
· Explain complex technical information to customers in a way that is easily understandable.
· Develop and Deliver training information, presentations, charts, and usable sales tools (support bulletins etc.).
· Build a relationship with our dealers and customers to earn their trust and respect. Expected to represent the company in an honest and ethical manner and with integrity.
Key Activities & Responsibilities
· Ability to travel domestically and internationally to visit customers with Regional Manager’s and Dealer Salesman to assist in explaining, presenting and convincing the customer on our proposal.
· Ability to prepare and submit proposals that clearly define equipment configuration, intended application, features and benefits, expected production results and other supporting documents.
· Manage in a timely fashion equipment proposals, documenting email, conversations, clarifications and submissions. This quoting system needs to be easily accessed and used by others.
· Ability to listen to the customer’s needs and come up with a standard or non-standard product to satisfy the requirement. Work with engineering to get preliminary details to allow quoting to take place.
· Gather and prepare competitive information on our equipment in a format to share with Regional Manager’s and Dealer Salesman.
· Mentor other Astec staff to transfer knowledge and experience in a way that fosters growth.
· Able to attend trade shows and product demonstrations to interact with the customer(s)
· Communicate with Engineering, Product Management, Production, Customer Service, and Service to determine where we can improve our business based on customer feedback and personal experience.
· Conduct order reviews as a kick-off on all capital orders communicating the order and the intended outcome. Hand over the project to engineering and manufacturing.
· Be the liaison between the customer and production should change be required or communication of progress and/or delays in the shipment.

Can be asked to participate in technical NPD and CI related discussions to provide feedback from field experience.
To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Mining, Geological or Industrial Engineering required.
· 5+ Years of experience using AutoCAD/Inventor (or comparable software) and with 3D design software required.
· Ability to operate general office equipment including personal computers. Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
· Communicate effectively orally and written.
· Good interpersonal relations skills when dealing with management, sales, dealers, customers, and inter-company personnel.
· Ability to manage stressful situations including equipment and/or process problem resolution with customers, dealer personnel, etc.
· Required to visit construction, quarry and industrial sites with exposure to dust, noise and weather elements; physically able to climb on equipment, aggregates stockpiles, etc.

Travel Requirements: Willing to travel worldwide by air and auto as required (+/- 8 weeks per year), have valid driver’s license, be able to obtain a passport and must have financial means to travel when required. Approved expenses will be reimbursed.
