Become a Key Player as a Machinist Technician

You will set up and operate CNC lathes and mills to produce precision aerospace components that meet engineering and quality requirements. You will work onsite on 2nd shift (3:30 PM–12:00 AM, Mon–Fri) after completing a required training period on first shift, collaborating with engineering, quality, and production teams to improve processes and meet delivery goals. Your work directly impacts product conformity, throughput, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Here's How You'll Make an Impact on the Team

  • Set up, adjust, and operate multiple CNC lathes/mills to produce parts to blueprint specifications and work instructions
  • Create, prove out, and edit CNC programs (using I.G.F software and at-machine program editing)
  • Run multiple machines efficiently, sometimes simultaneously, and improvise tooling as needed
  • Interpret complex drawings, engineering specs, and GD&T to ensure conformance
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments (gages, calipers, micrometers) and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) as required
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and ensure equipment calibration and cleanliness
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and collaborate with engineering to resolve drawing or process problems
  • Perform statistical process control (SPC) and contribute to lean/continuous improvement efforts
  • Train and mentor less experienced team members

Here's What You'll Need to Be Successful in This Role

  • 5 or more years of CNC lathe machining experience in a high-technology or aerospace manufacturing environment
  • Ability to set up and run a minimum of five CNC machine types
  • Experience operating and editing CNC programs at the machine; mill experience is a plus
  • Proficiency reading and interpreting blueprints, complex drawings, and GD&T
  • Experience with precision inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, gages) and ability to use or be required to use a CMM
  • Working knowledge of advanced shop mathematics (may include trigonometry)
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance and follow calibration schedules
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to work independently in a team environment
  • Able to lift up to 30 lbs

Here's What Else Might Help You Out

  • Experience with specific machine brands (e.g., Okuma, Mazak, Haas)
  • Formal CNC machining certifications or training (e.g., NIMS, trade school)
  • Experience with AS9100 or NADCAP standards or cleanroom environments
  • Prior experience in aerospace materials (titanium, Inconel, aluminum)
