Become a Key Player as a Machinist Technician
You will join the production team to produce precision machined components that support critical flight control manufacturing. You will work onsite in Ogden, UT, primarily on a weekend shift (Fri–Sun, 5am–5pm; 36 hours) and collaborate with engineering and production stakeholders to improve processes and drive quality. Your work impacts product conformance, throughput, and lean initiatives across the division.
Here's How You'll Make an Impact on the Team
- Set up, adjust, and operate conventional and CNC machining centers to produce complex parts to close tolerances
- Run multiple machines efficiently and manage simultaneous operations
- Interpret blueprints, engineering specifications, and complex drawings to meet customer requirements
- Troubleshoot machining problems and implement corrective actions
- Inspect finished parts using gauges, calipers, micrometers, and potentially CMM to ensure conformance
- Develop and define machining processes and tooling needs; advise on tooling design
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and ensure calibration schedules are met
- Apply statistical process control (SPC) and contribute to lean improvement efforts
- Train and mentor less experienced team members
Here's What You'll Need to Be Successful in This Role
- Five or more years of directly related machining experience in a high-technology manufacturing environment
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, complex drawings, and engineering specifications
- Proven ability to make and evaluate precision machine setups and use precision measuring instruments
- Working knowledge of advanced shop mathematics (may include trigonometry)
- Experience implementing lean concepts and process improvements
- Strong verbal and written communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks with changing priorities and work with minimal supervision
- Physical ability to perform job demands, including standing, walking, manual dexterity, close vision, and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs
