Job Summary:

As a Utility Locator, you will be responsible for identifying and marking underground utility infrastructure to support safe excavation, construction, and landscaping activities. You will operate company vehicles, utilize digital utility maps and specialized locating equipment, and ensure accurate utility identification to prevent damages and maintain safety standards. Success in this role requires accuracy, efficiency, and a strong commitment to safety while working in diverse field environments.

Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

• Utilize provided mapping tools, utility records, and locating equipment to identify underground utilities, including electric, gas, telephone, and communication lines
• Mark utility locations accurately using paint, flags, and other approved methods
• Operate and maintain company vehicles and assigned equipment in a safe and professional manner
• Perform locating duties in both standard and high-risk work areas while adhering to all safety protocols
• Travel overnight to job sites as required to support business operations
• Represent Congruex professionally while interacting with customers, contractors, and internal teams
• Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs

Required Qualifications:

Education, Licensing, and Certifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Valid unrestricted Driver’s License required
• OSHA 10 certification required
• CDL preferred

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of recent underground utility locating experience
• Experience working in construction, excavation, or utility infrastructure environments preferred

Skills and Abilities

• Basic computer skills with the ability to use digital mapping and locating technology
• Ability to operate locating equipment safely and efficiently
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate with crews, leadership, and customers
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Ability to perform physically demanding work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications:

• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
• Experience working in high-risk utility or construction zones

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 150 lbs. occasionally
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, climb, push, pull, and twist for extended periods
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and uneven terrain
• Ability to maintain visual and audible awareness of crews, equipment, and surroundings for safe coordination
• Ability to work around heavy equipment and machinery
• Must be able to wear required PPE, including safety boots, safety glasses, hard hats, and other applicable safety gear
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review
