Job Summary:

Field Technicians install, maintain, and upgrade equipment on telecommunication broadcast structures that do not require work at elevations not reachable by bucket trucks or aerial lifts. Field Technicians work with DC Powerplants, Batteries, AC Electrical Systems, Transmission Lines, and Fiber Optics.

Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

·        Read and understand construction drawings.
·        Properly install telecommunications cables with minimal direction.
·        Troubleshoot issues by utilizing test equipment.
·        Practice safety in all aspects of construction.
·        Receive direction from managers and execute tasks in remote locations.
·        Work with AC & DC electrical systems.
·        Terminate and install connectors including CAT5e/CAT6, JMA, and LMR connectors.
·        Operate an Antenna Alignment Tool and gather all necessary documentation without fail.
·        Operate a RET Controller and gather all necessary documentation without fail.
·        Operate a PIM Tester and gather all necessary documentation without fail and can troubleshoot the source of failure.
·        Operate a Fiber Tester and gather all necessary documentation without fail and can troubleshoot the source of failure.
·        Operate a Sweep Gear and gather all necessary documentation without fail and can troubleshoot the source of failure.
·        Operate a Capstan Hoist Safely and Properly without any direction.
·        Operate heavy equipment necessary to prep job sites.
·        Assist in assuring all crew members are following safety protocols.
·        Strive to provide a quality installation.
·        Ensure all material and assets are available before construction starts.
·        Ensure all trash and debris is stored in a professional manner on site.
·        Maintain assigned vehicles and trailers and ensure they are in a professional/presentable condition.
·        Ensures company tools and test equipment are taken care of, accounted for, and stored properly.
·        Ensure a JSA is filled out every morning by all employees and all who are onsite and all JSA’s are delivered to the appropriate CWS staff.
·        Show a positive attitude, work well with the crew, uphold the highest safety measures, and promote the Congruex culture.
·        Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications:

Education, Licensing, and Certifications

·        High School Diploma or GED (Required)
·        Preferred Certifications or Coursework:
o   Basic Electrical Theory
o   Telecommunications Fundamentals
o   Fiber Optic Technician Certification (e.g., ETA, FOA)
o   DC Power Systems Training
·        Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
·        DOT Medical Card
·        First Aid/CPR
·        Bloodborne Pathogens
·        RF Safety Awareness
·        OSHA 30 Construction Industry
·        NFPA70e Electrical Training
·        Aerial Lift Safety
·        Forklift Safety

Experience
·        0–2 years of relevant experience in telecommunications, electrical systems, or field service work.
·        Hands-on experience with:
o   DC Powerplants (e.g., rectifiers, inverters, grounding systems)
o   Battery Systems (installation, maintenance, and testing)
o   AC Electrical Systems (basic wiring, circuit breakers, safety protocols)
o   Transmission Lines (coaxial, waveguide, or microwave)
o   Fiber Optics (splicing, testing, and troubleshooting)
 

Physical Requirements:

·        Work in confined spaces.
·        Push, pull, reach, and carry objects such as tools, materials, and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
·        Load and unload tools and equipment on the truck.
·        Coordinate movement of eyes, hands, fingers, and feet.
·        Vision, including depth perception, close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
·        Must be able to maintain visual and audible contact with other crewman and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement.
·        All work is performed at remote locations; driving and sitting are required.
·        Work may be performed indoors or outdoors, subject to inclement weather conditions.
