Job Summary

As the Directional Drill Foreman, you will ultimately be responsible for leading directional drilling operations, operating drilling equipment, and ensuring safe, efficient execution of underground utility construction projects. You will oversee daily field activities, support drilling operations, and ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with project requirements. As the Directional Drill Foreman, your customers are internal construction teams, project managers, and telecommunications clients, and you will make meaningful contributions to the company's success through operational leadership, quality workmanship, and safety excellence.

Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

  • Lead and perform directional drilling and locating activities to safely install underground telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Operate directional drilling equipment and other construction machinery while supporting daily field operations and crew productivity.
  • Coordinate and support drilling operations, ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, and in compliance with company safety standards.
  • Perform work in both standard and high-risk construction environments while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality.
  • Travel to project locations, including overnight assignments, as required to support construction operations.
  • Maintain effective communication with crew members, supervisors, customers, and project stakeholders.
  • Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs.

Required Qualifications

Education, Licensing, and Certifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Experience

  • Minimum one year of recent experience in directional drilling and/or utility locating.
  • Experience supporting underground utility, telecommunications, or construction projects.

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of directional drilling equipment, construction practices, and underground utility installation.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work safely outdoors in varying weather conditions while performing physically demanding work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or willingness to obtain one.
  • OSHA certification and experience leading telecommunications construction crews.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and perform physically demanding work for extended periods.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and in active construction environments.
  • Ability to travel overnight as business needs require.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review.
