Job Summary
As the Aerial Foreman, you will ultimately be responsible for leading aerial telecommunications construction crews, overseeing daily field operations, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. You will supervise construction activities, coordinate equipment and personnel, and support the installation, maintenance, and restoration of aerial telecommunications infrastructure. As the Aerial Foreman, your customers are Congruex project teams, utility providers, and broadband service providers, and you will make meaningful contributions to the company's success through operational leadership, safety, quality workmanship, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to)
- Supervise and lead aerial construction crews to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project schedules.
- Install, maintain, and repair aerial telecommunications infrastructure, including pole placement, anchors, strand, cable hanging, lashing, pole transfers, and new cable installations.
- Operate construction equipment including bucket trucks, post-hole diggers, and other equipment required to support aerial construction activities.
- Perform construction work including digging holes, placing conduit and cable, pulling cable through conduit systems, and supporting open excavation activities.
- Climb utility poles and operate aerial lift equipment to install, repair, and maintain telecommunications facilities.
- Read and interpret field prints, construction drawings, work orders, and project specifications to execute assigned work accurately.
- Ensure all work complies with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, customer requirements, and quality standards.
- Supervise employees, assign daily work, provide training and guidance, and monitor crew productivity.
- Maintain responsibility for assigned vehicles, equipment, and tools, ensuring proper inspection, maintenance, and utilization.
- Prepare project documentation, complete invoicing according to company standards, and communicate project progress to management.
- Interact professionally with customers and property owners while maintaining positive customer relationships.
- Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs.
Required Qualifications
Education, Licensing, and Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record required.
Experience
- Experience leading aerial telecommunications construction crews.
- Experience installing aerial telecommunications infrastructure, including cable placement, strand construction, pole transfers, and cable lashing.
- Previous management or supervisory experience required.
- Experience operating bucket trucks and other aerial construction equipment.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to safely work from bucket trucks and climb utility poles using ladders and climbing gear.
- Strong knowledge of aerial and underground telecommunications construction practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, field prints, and construction specifications.
- Ability to operate manual and powered construction tools and equipment.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel as required.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and maneuver materials weighing between 50 and 100 pounds.
- Basic computer skills, including the ability to use email and upload photos through mobile applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 10 Certification.
- OSHA 30 Certification.
- First Aid Certification.
- Spanish language proficiency.
- Experience working with utility and broadband infrastructure projects.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs.
- Ability to climb utility poles, ladders, and work from aerial lift equipment for extended periods.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, push, pull, and perform physically demanding work throughout the workday.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to safely work at heights and around energized utilities and heavy equipment.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, fall protection equipment, and safety boots.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review.
