A top client in the construction industry is seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Procurement and Supply Chain to lead the transformation of purchasing, inventory management, logistics, and supplier relationships across their growing portfolio of operating companies.
As the Director of Procurement and Supply Chain, you are responsible for building and standardizing procurement and supply chain processes across multiple businesses, creating purchasing leverage, improving inventory visibility and accuracy, consolidating vendor relationships, and developing a scalable logistics strategy that supports continued growth.
This leader will partner closely with branch leadership, operations teams, finance, and executive management to create a centralized procurement strategy while supporting local operating needs. The position reports directly to the CEO and will play a critical role in creating the future-state procurement and supply chain organization.
As the Director of Procurement and Supply Chain, you will be responsible for:
Strategic Procurement & Supply Chain Leadership
· Develop and execute the company's procurement and supply chain strategy across multiple operating businesses.
· Standardize purchasing processes, controls, and policies across all locations.
· Consolidate vendor relationships and purchasing activity to maximize buying power and improve pricing.
· Lead enterprise-wide supplier negotiations and contract management.
· Create procurement governance and accountability measures while balancing corporate strategy with local operating requirements.
· Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) for procurement, inventory, supplier performance, freight costs, and working capital.
Procurement Transformation & Business Integration
· Assess current purchasing structures and implement a scalable operating model across multiple acquired and legacy businesses.
· Lead initiatives to centralize procurement activities where appropriate while maintaining operational effectiveness at the local level.
· Identify opportunities to eliminate duplicate vendors, standardize materials, and create purchasing efficiencies.
· Design and implement consistent procurement workflows, approval processes, and compliance standards.
· Support the ongoing integration of acquisitions from a procurement and supply chain perspective.
Inventory, ERP & Process Improvement
· Partner with operations and finance teams to improve inventory accuracy, controls, and reporting.
· Drive ERP optimization efforts to ensure inventory, purchasing, and financial data align accurately across systems.
· Lead inventory data cleanup initiatives and establish sustainable inventory management practices.
· Develop visibility into inventory performance, variances, turns, and demand planning.
· Utilize ERP, CRM, and business intelligence tools to improve purchasing decisions and reporting.
Logistics, Warehousing & Distribution
· Develop a centralized logistics strategy supporting multiple operating companies and geographic regions.
· Assess warehouse network needs and lead the development of centralized distribution capabilities when appropriate.
· Create solutions for moving materials efficiently between suppliers, warehouses, and operating locations.
· Establish processes for material forecasting, replenishment, and regional inventory deployment.
International Sourcing & Import Management
· Support and expand supplier sourcing efforts, including imported products and materials.
· Coordinate import logistics, freight forwarding, customs, and port activity.
· Establish processes and controls for managing international supply chain activities.
· Monitor supplier market conditions and identify alternative sourcing strategies to reduce risk and improve availability.
To be successful in the role, you must possess:
· 10+ years of progressive procurement, supply chain, sourcing, logistics, or operations leadership experience.
· Experience leading procurement transformation initiatives across multiple locations, divisions, or acquired businesses.
· Demonstrated success consolidating vendor relationships and creating enterprise purchasing strategies.
· Experience implementing procurement processes, controls, and standard operating procedures.
· Strong background leveraging ERP systems to improve purchasing, inventory, and operational performance.
· Experience managing cross-functional relationships with operations, finance, and executive leadership.
Highly Preferred
· Experience within building products, construction materials, hardscape, fencing, landscaping, pool construction, distribution, industrial services, manufacturing, or related industries.
· Experience working in private equity-backed, acquisitive, or rapidly growing organizations.
