ABOUT THE POSITION
This position provides overall leadership, development and supervision of the Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Materials departments with a focus on ensuring the production schedule is executed for completion in a timely manner, within all quality parameters as well as securing assigned commodities on a JIT basis ensuring compliance with all applicable requirements and specifications in accordance with company policies, principles and procedures by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.
Key Deliverables
· Drive new and fast-growing technologies to upgrade our manufacturing process.
· Manage production and assembly activities in compliance with company policy and standard operating procedures.
· Ensure production performance and quality are met.
· Ensure a healthy and safe working environment, in compliance with federal and state regulations.
· Oversee employees and training for production and facility related processes.
Key Activities & Responsibilities
· Work to ensure people and resources are applied in an efficient and effective manner to meet delivery requirements while achieving quality, safety, and operating procedure standards.
· Reviews performance against operating plans and standards. Provides information to direct reports on interpretation of results and approves changes to plans.
· Develops specific short-term and long-term plans and programs, together with supporting budget requests and financial estimates.
· Review and approves cost control reports, cost estimates, and manpower and facility requirements forecast.
· Manage work order closures and stock control transactions.
· Enable effective communications between management and operators.
· Train new and coach/develop existing Production Managers.
· Oversees, controls, or otherwise manages the following, utilizing staff of supervisors and managers:
· Ensures compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
· Directs production resources toward the completion of Peterson strategic objectives.
· Works collaboratively across the organization to ensure successful execution of supply chain support on several cross departmental initiatives.
· Determine KPI’s and benchmarks relating to supply chain planning/forecasting.
· Establish integrated processes among purchasing, planning, warehousing, control of materials and outside suppliers to implement an effective replenishment and inventory management process to ensure Peterson is operating at the highest level of performance based on key performance metrics.
· Develop strategies, policies, procedures, and overall team to optimize value of the entire function in creating a world class materials management group providing exceptional customer service to downstream customers.
· Identify systems tools needed to implement planning/forecasting systems. Lead reengineering efforts as it relates to supply chain planning and execution systems.
· Develop and manage departmental budget accordingly.
· Establishes annual goals and objectives, (including stretch targets) in coordination with corporate objectives and manages performance to ensure attainment.
· Participate in existing and new product planning processes to assure timely acquisition of materials to support product launches.
· Analyzes market and delivery conditions as well as production schedule to determine and communicate present and future material availability.
· Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
· Locates discrepancies and determines reason for inventory differences and makes any necessary adjustments in system accordingly.
· Participates on project teams involving business processes implementation, documentation and analysis that intertwine with Inventory Control.
To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
· A bachelor’s degree preferred in Manufacturing Operations, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, a related field or equivalent and/or combination of training and experience.
· Advanced certifications are a plus
· 10+ years’ experience in a heavy manufacturing industry, including the purchasing of technical, mechanical, or electrical products/materials and commodity items.
· 10+ years of successful supervisory experience and leadership experience.
· experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and ERP, inventory, ordering, and tracking systems preferably Microsoft Dynamics AX.
· 10+ years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints and bills of material (BOM’s).
· Superior analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and negotiation skills required.
· Generates product demand forecasts, financial profitability of product and inventory management issues and reporting.
· Skill in working efficiently and accurately as well as work cross functionally and collaboratively with engineering, sales, parts, and production departments.
· Maintain positive, constructive cooperative working relationships by working, acting, and communicating with various personalities getting along with customers, vendors, co-workers, and management working both individually and as part of a team.
· Continue to grow lean knowledge and use the tools to identify and assist with continuous process improvement.
· Leads by example, gain respect from team and communicate with clarity while demonstrating excellence in approach to work and people activities.
· Effectively delegate tasks, make decisions, interpret, and communicate work requirements and goals while managing impactful department priorities.

Manufacturing Environment
Shop manufacturing environment exposures include exposure to moving mechanical parts, machinery, tools and equipment, vibration, fumes or airborne particles, motorized vehicles, welding and machining operations, outside weather conditions and exposure to the risk of electric shock. The employee may occasionally be exposed to varying levels of dirt, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, very warm and/or very chilly temperatures. The noise level in the shop can be very loud at times consistent with an industrial assembly facility and may require hearing protection.
