ABOUT THE POSITION
The Manager, Global CAD Admin role is to ensure the stable operation of in-house CAD software within Astec. This includes developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all CAD installations across the enterprise. The role will promote and ensure global standards in CAD. The position will also analyze and resolve user CAD program issues in a timely and accurate fashion. The Manager, Global CAD Admin is responsible for consolidating all sites to the Solidworks CAD platform.
Deliverables & Responsibilities
· Develop and coordinate network procedures and protocols for storage of CAD data and designs on shared servers and/or networked hard drives. Administer and maintain CAD information repository database.
· Recommend strategies for document management as it relates to CAD user outputs, including collection, revision, and archiving.
· Recommend server storage space allotments, resource reservations, and directory assistance.
· Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated plans for CAD software administration and appropriate use.
· Where necessary, assist in migration projects to newer versions of CAD applications.
· Install, configure, manager, and administer CAD software, related hardware, and any other corresponding IT assets to ensure trouble-free operation by CAD users.
· Establish service level agreements with CAD users and provide on-call technical support for these users.
· Analyze current CAD application usage and plan for growth or increases in software licensing and network capacity.
· Recommend, schedule, and perform software improvements, upgrades, and/or purchases.
· Liaise and negotiate with vendors and suppliers to secure and maintain CAD software, products, and services.
· Conduct research on new and emerging CAD technologies or technologies that can be leveraged through existing CAD investments. Attend seminars and receive training, as necessary.
· Identify and resolve system issues
To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
· Bachelor’s degree in the field of computer science, engineering, or related degree
· 5+ years direct experience operating, programming, and administrating CAD applications (i.e. Autodesk, SolidWorks, etc.)
· Proven experience in overseeing the direction, development, and implementation of CAD software solutions
· At least 3 years direct experience in the manufacturing industry
· Experience supporting a Global, multi-location business
· Ability to build relationships with people at all levels, including executive management
· Must be able to manage and train people
· Demonstrated project management skills is required. Must be able to organize and manage multiple projects and priorities.
· Strong knowledge of system and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies
· Attention to detail is required.
· Must be highly self-motivated.
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision is required.
· Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is required.
· Must be able to solve problems at both a strategic and functional level.
· Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills are required.

Supervisor and Leadership Expectations
· The CAD Administrators reports to this role.
· Oversight over all CAD platforms from IT perspective.

Travel Requirements: Up to 5% Domestic and International travel is required; heavier during project implementations.
