Data Engineer - Databricks

@Orchard LLC is recruiting a Databricks Engineer to support Army financial management and data modernization efforts. The Databricks Engineer will support the development, integration, and sustainment of data solutions designed to modernize Army financial management capabilities. In this role, you will develop and maintain data pipelines and data processing solutions within Databricks, integrate data from Army financial and enterprise systems, and support the delivery of reliable, governed data for financial execution and decision-making.

The ideal candidate will bring strong experience with Databricks, data engineering, enterprise data integration, and modern data platforms, along with the ability to translate complex technical and business requirements into secure, scalable solutions.

Your responsibilities as a Data Engineer. 

• Design, develop, configure, and maintain data pipelines and data processing solutions within the Databricks platform, including scalable data ingestion, transformation, and integration processes. 
• Integrate data from Army financial and enterprise systems and other approved data sources, including modern data platforms, enterprise applications, and legacy systems through APIs and other integration technologies. 
• Develop data transformation logic, workflows, data models, and analytical datasets that support financial management, reporting, analytics, and execution requirements. 
• Build and maintain reliable data solutions while ensuring data quality, accuracy, consistency, governance, security, lineage, and appropriate access controls. 
• Troubleshoot data pipeline, integration, and application issues; support testing, deployment, documentation, lifecycle management, and ongoing system sustainment. 
• Collaborate with technical teams, government stakeholders, and project personnel to translate business requirements into effective data solutions, while assuming progressive responsibility for user intake, recurring run support, and issue resolution during the sustainment handoff period.

Your background will include. 

• All candidates must possess a Secret clearance. Due to the hiring timeline, candidates without a clearance will NOT be considered at this time. 
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• 5+ years of enterprise application development, integration development, or related technical experience.
• Experience developing and maintaining data pipelines in Databricks with strong knowledge of SQL and data engineering concepts.
• Experience with data ingestion, transformation, integration, and processing, including working with enterprise data sources, databases, and/or ERP systems.
• Experience developing scalable and reliable data solutions in a production environment. 
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues and identify appropriate solutions.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Skills to make you stand out.

• Experience with Apache Spark, Delta Lake, or related technologies.
• Knowledge of DoW and Army financial management, ERP systems, and enterprise data environments.
• Direct experience with Army platforms such as GFEBS or GCSS-Army.
• Experience with complex system integrations.

Compensation: Compensation for this role will be determined based on experience and qualifications. The expected base salary range is between $112,600 and $177,600. Generous benefits, bonus eligibility, and significant professional development support are all available.
