Job Purpose:
This position is responsible for the overall operations of Medical Oncology A/R management and all revenue cycle functions specific to MedOnc, including but not limited to, billing, accounts receivable (AR), cash management requirements, bad debt, managed care contractual terms and requirements, health insurance practices, industry regulatory requirements, business office operations, AR and financial reporting technology, basic accounting, and industry standards for healthcare revenue cycle management. This role will also support Operations in front-end RCM procedures, such as securing prior authorizations and identifying patient assistance programs where available.
Essential Functions:
  • Establish and own ‘leading practice’ revenue cycle functions specific to Medical Oncology
  • Build internal team to support Medical Oncology leading practices
  • Overall responsibility for revenue cycle operations specific to Medical Oncology, to ensure timely billing and collections
  • Ensure that all Medical Oncology revenue cycle management activities are performed consistently with overall department protocol and are in compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory agencies
  • Implement and maintain the policies and procedures that will allow the A/R management department to keep pace with the aggressive growth of the company
  • Set and monitor minimum standards for patient scoring, collection decision matrix and incentive goals for staff
  • Ensures that all processing and reporting deadlines are consistently achieved
  • Supervise, train, coach and motivate staff
  • Analyze and resolve problems that affect the claim submission process
  • Financially analyze data for operations, budgeting, auditing, and forecasting
  • Establish operating relationship with the CEO, COO and center operation levels
  • Assess and impact the Medical Oncology revenue cycle and analysis
  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Ensures that all processing and reporting deadlines are consistently achieved
  • Perform any other functions as required by management
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • 10+ years experience in a Manager/Director role within a Billing and Collections department
  • Strong knowledge of CPT, HCPCA, ICD-9 coding
  • In-depth experience in health care revenue cycle process
  • Experience with electronic medical records and data management
  • Educational requirements: BS minimum
  • Proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Basic understanding of accounting practices for AR and reserve analysis
  • Staffing and financial reporting skills
  • Strong analytical skills

Preferred Skills
  • Medical and Radiation Oncology experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with GE Centricity.
