Description

This full-time position, based in New York City or remote, is responsible for leading the production team. The Group Director of Experiential Production will support the Chief Creative Officer to oversee the end-to-end production process for all company events, ensuring seamless execution, and exceeding client expectations. 

The ideal candidate will possess a combination of strong leadership, innovative thinking, and a passion for delivering world-class events. 

Major Responsibilities/Accountabilities:  

 

What You’ll Do  

  • Collaborate closely with the Chief Creative Officer to align production elements with creative vision and overall event objectives. 

  • Evaluate project feasibility and select vendors, contractors, and partners to ensure the highest standards of event production and execution. 

  • Oversee the end-to-end production process for all company events, ensuring seamless execution and exceeding internal and external expectations. 

  • Develop and manage (detailed, quote based, and vendor verified) event budgets in collaboration with the Chief Creative Officer, optimizing resources while ensuring cost-effectiveness and high-quality deliverables. 

  • Implement efficient planning, review and approval, processes to ensure on time event budgeting, build and execution 

  • Create thorough operating plans for all events, outlining all aspects of travel, transportation, storage, engineering, labor, permitting, venue fees, insurance, equipment rental etc. 

  • Drive SOHO’s competitive edge in event production by exploring and implementing innovative resources, vendors, technologies and methods to events and experiences. 

  • Foster a solution-oriented and collaborative culture within the production department, encouraging integrity, accuracy, and creativity, 

  • Oversee risk management and contingency planning for events to mitigate potential issues and ensure smooth operations. 

  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams (e.g., creative, business development, client service) to develop strategic production and tactical programming. 
     

Position Requirements  

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a focus on fostering collaboration and innovation. 

  • Demonstrated experience in budgeting, cost management, and resource optimization for events. 

  • Proven ability to drive and implement the highest standard in event production. 

  • A solution-oriented mindset, able to think creatively and overcome challenges. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to build strong relationships with clients, team members, vendors, and partners. 

  • Able to handle multiple project workstreams simultaneously. 

  • Excellent organization and communication skills (writing, speaking, listening) with expertise in Microsoft Office365 software and Keynote. 

  • Timely decision-making skills. 

  • Proven track record of hiring and leading staff permeant and freelance staff. 

  • Proven negotiation skills experience, especially in contract negotiations with suppliers and event organizers. 

  • Ability to develop strong relationships with clients by gaining trust and repeated successful delivery of expectations. 

  • Aptitude to define solutions that will generate measurable results for the client. 

  • Demonstrated experience running large engagements with clients or equivalent. 

  • Proven experience of managing multiple projects, teams, and clients simultaneously.
