    The Trauma Injury Prevention and Outreach Cooridnator: 

    • Manages the design, implementation, coordination and evaluation of the Trauma Injury Prevention Program which includes public education and outreach
    • Markets all components of injury prevention to members of the community including youth program
    • Ensures that the program complies with the requirements of the American College of Surgeons Level 1 Trauma Center designation
    • Interacts internally with the Trauma Program staff, physicians, patients, Hospital and University officials
    • Interacts externally with the general public, local and federal government agencies
    •  Develops and maintains an Injury Prevention Center and database
    •  Develops injury prevention projects for internal and external customers
    • Establishes collaborative relationships with community organizations with interests in injury prevention
    • Delivers injury prevention programs through a variety of formats including lectures, health fairs and literature hand-outs
    • Conducts research relating to trauma prevention and incorporates the findings into the Center accordingly
    • Assists in the Trauma Service Quality Improvement Program
    • Participates in continuing education programs concerning trauma to maintain own skills and knowledge base
    • Responsible for grant writing to obtain funding for injury prevention outreach activities
    Qualified candidates will possess:
    • Master’s degree in nursing, public health or related science required.  MPH preferred
    • Five (5) years of comprehensive experience/knowledge of the field of injury prevention
