The Trauma Injury Prevention and Outreach Cooridnator:- Manages the design, implementation, coordination and evaluation of the Trauma Injury Prevention Program which includes public education and outreach
- Markets all components of injury prevention to members of the community including youth program
- Ensures that the program complies with the requirements of the American College of Surgeons Level 1 Trauma Center designation
- Interacts internally with the Trauma Program staff, physicians, patients, Hospital and University officials
- Interacts externally with the general public, local and federal government agencies
- Develops and maintains an Injury Prevention Center and database
- Develops injury prevention projects for internal and external customers
- Establishes collaborative relationships with community organizations with interests in injury prevention
- Delivers injury prevention programs through a variety of formats including lectures, health fairs and literature hand-outs
- Conducts research relating to trauma prevention and incorporates the findings into the Center accordingly
- Assists in the Trauma Service Quality Improvement Program
- Participates in continuing education programs concerning trauma to maintain own skills and knowledge base
- Responsible for grant writing to obtain funding for injury prevention outreach activities
- Master’s degree in nursing, public health or related science required. MPH preferred
- Five (5) years of comprehensive experience/knowledge of the field of injury prevention
