The Interventional Technologist:
Operates laser imagers, and Radiographic / Fluoroscopic equipment to obtain radiographic images.Uses appropriate technique and shielding combination to obtain optimal images while adhering to ALARA principles. Programs machine to the proper voltage current and desired exposure time as dictated by the physician.
Assists physicians with specialized diagnostic and interventional procedures by handling equipment, preparing procedure and instrument trays, prepping and explaining procedures to patients and other related tasks under the supervision of an Interventional Radiologist. Uses EKG equipment, Intravenous pumps, Blood Pressure equipment, pulse oximeter and related routine equipment to maintain continuous patient care.
Maintains imaging equipment. Prepares patient's room, equipment, supplies, and contrast media.
Address patient concerns during the procedure and explain the process to the patient to provide comfort, ensure their safety, and guarantee they are receiving the best care possible.
Notifies appropriate health care provider when immediate clinical response is necessary based on procedural findings and patient condition
Troubleshoots equipment to ensure equipment is running smoothly to avoid downtime
Conducts daily QA and equipment warm-up per established standards
Qualified candidates will possess:Graduate from an accredited radiologic technologist program.
Three (3) years’ experience as a Radiologic Technologist, including one year of recent experience in Interventional Radiology (IR) required.
ARRT certifications (e.g. CV, VI, CI) required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) required
