    The Infection Control Preventionist:

    • The Infection Control Preventionist will develop and implement the infection prevention plan and will conduct daily surveillance and reporting of healthcare-acquired infections, diseases of epidemiologic significance to the facility, team member, patient, staff and visitor exposures or iatrogenic illness, and diseases required by the Department of Public Health. Responsible for reporting conditions that warrant immediate action to prevent illness or injury and to take independent action when necessary. Responsible for coordinating compliance with The Joint Commission Standards for surveillance, prevention, and control of Infection, and applicable local, state, and federal guidelines addressing infection control or infectious diseases.

    Qualified candidates will possess:

    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Microbiology, Biology, Medical Technology or other related science field.
    • Master’s Degree in Public Health, Nursing, or other related science field preferred.
    • 2 years' experience participating in a hospital-based infection prevention & control program consisting of surveillance, education of staff, data analysis, and aggregation consistent epidemiological practices.
    • Certification as Infection Preventionist (CBIC), preferred or obtainment within 12 months of employment.

    Required Skills
