The Telecommunication Technician: The Telecommunication Technician installs cable for new or existing telephone/data service and Network Services with repairs and maintenance of the Hospital communications and network cabling systems. Monitors accessibility and performance of the telecommunications system and troubleshoots and resolves problems. Performs new installs or replaces outdated or malfunctioning equipment. Responsible for the installation, problem diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of a full range of telecommunications equipment encompassing both analog and digital technologies. The technician addresses issues of availability and reliability for voice, data, signal, and image connectivity within the local and remote IT client to support the Hospital’s growth and development of new business opportunities.- Assists network services with cabling and installation of telephone and hardware equipment. Assist IT Services with the repair of all telecommunications equipment and IT equipment as needed.
- Establishes communications systems by installing, operating, and maintaining voice and data telecommunications network circuits and equipment.
- Assists with the maintenance of telephone systems, nurse call systems, and facsimile systems, as needed.
- Diagnoses and repairs equipment. Responds to job assignments such as work orders, engineering changes, and trouble calls. Performs installation and testing of new products individually or part of a team.
- Maintains and installs communication edge devices such as phone sets, dictation devices, faxes, etc. Maintains nurse call system, overhead systems, and other audio-, and visual equipment.
- Ensures adherence to, and documents routine maintenance schedules. Informs management of potential service level problems before they occur and communicate solutions.
- Ensures all telecommunication/data closets are maintained and cleaned on a monthly basis
- Assist with phone service outages
- Coordinates and monitors vendor

- High School Diploma or GED required
- Five (5) years of progressive work experience in the installation of communication equipment (preferably in a hospital setting).
