Job Summary:
The Permitting Director will lead the permitting strategy for projects, ensuring compliance with all environmental, land use, and regulatory requirements while maintaining project schedules and budgets. The Permitting Director will lead and mentor a high-performing team of permit managers fostering a culture excellence, collaboration, innovation and continues improvement. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with proven experience in optimizing efficiency, managing permitting teams, and implementing best practices. The Director will also maintain responsibility for the profit and loss for the permitting organization.
Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):- Represent the company and your team while working closely with the internal and external customer to define and deliver their needs.
- Identify a workgroup’s daily capacity and determine the required capacity to complete the work.
- Based on a team’s performance and/or the performance need, provide daily or weekly production expectations.
- Either through process or products, identify innovative ways to reduce work cycle times and increase quality.
- Determine a workload and financial forecast for each shared service based on trends, projections, or customer commitments.
- Retrieve, analyze, transform, and report data for business intelligence.
- Work with Business Development to research and develop new shared services business opportunities for both internal and external customers.
- Build and maintain a team of high functioning managers, professional staff, and support staff to maintain a profitable organization.
- Provide technical and analytical guidance as needed as well as coaching and mentorship.
- Hold team accountable for submitting timely, quality work.
- Coordinate with HR team for recruitment and training of a cross-functional department.
- Work with Operations to determine improvement targets in all projects as a measure of performance.
- Set challenging cross-functional goals that support the organizational goals and strategies.
- Manage and supervise firm operations including bid analysis, budgeting, initiating, resourcing, and distribution of responsibilities amongst team.
- Assist account president in planning and executing the annual budget.
- Process daily escalations of issues from client.
- Report weekly on productivity, statuses, and quality; Special or ad-hoc reports or projects as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
General- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics.
- Minimum 10 years of construction and/or engineering experience.
- Minimum 5 years in land use permitting, environmental permitting, and project entitlements, with demonstrated leadership and management skills.
- Minimum 5 years of management experience.
- Excellent conflict resolution skills and demonstrated experience in directing and motivating multi-level talent.
- Experience conducting end to end project management of large fiber deployment projects; able to provide technical and analytical guidance to a project team.
- Experience managing Outside Plant and Inside Plant projects.
- Deadline driven, self-motivated, and technically savvy.
- Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
- Superior time management skills.
- Extremely organized with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to be flexible, take direction with ease, including changes to schedule and workflow priorities.
- Critical thinking skills; make assessments and provide solutions to problems.
- Ability to maintain professional tact in a fast-paced work environment with internal personnel and clients.
- Superior customer service. Dedication to providing customers “White Glove Service”.
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
- Relationship management experience (government/city officials, clients, etc.) preferred.
- Civil and/or telecommunications construction background preferred.
- Experience in negotiating with wildlife, land use, and regulatory agencies to achieve favorable outcomes.
- Master’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics preferred.
